Tablas Creek was founded after Robert Haas and Jacques Perrin (of Château de Beaucastel)became good friends. After some time, Robert Haas successfully imported many vines from Beaucastel in France.
The Esprit is based on the dark red fruit, earth, spice and mid-palate richness of Mourvèdre, with the well-accompanied backup of Grenache for forward fruit, approachability and lushness, Syrah coming along for minerality, aromatics, and back-palate tannins, and Counoise bringing it home with a brambly spice and acidity.
If this blend was a band, I'd follow it's tour around Europe.
